BWL对应商学院的Business Administration

而在德国通常把Business Administration和Economics都放在同一个学院, 统称Wirtschaftswissenschaften.

BWL(Betriebswirtschaftslehre)是企业经济学，和国民经济学（Volkswirtschaftslehre)相对，Business administration是指工商管理，只是企业经济学的一个分支，比如说MBA是master of business administration,特指工商管理硕士，并不是所有的企业经济学硕士都能被称为MBA.所以BWL应该是Business economics,或Business Studies(leo version).

& j! K  x+ W2 X; d- uTherefore, as you said, the ordinary German Diplom BWL cannot be translated into Master of Business Administration. In fact, Diplom-Kaufmann/kauffrau (Diplom BWL) is often translated to Master of Science in Business Administration/Management.

! {4 {# w" |# @! e% ~A variety of translations may appear. Maybe some dictionaries translate Diplom-Kaufmann into Master of Science in Business Economics or something else literally. Nevertheless, such a translation is not correct. As a matter of fact, Master of Science in Business Administration/Management is the widespread designation on an international basis.

By the way, business economics, also called managerial economics, is actually a sub-discipline in economics (VWL). It is concerned about business organization, management and strategy on a theoretical or conceptual basis.

In contrast, business administration is practical, oriented to the business practice. Accounting, corporate finance, marketing, operation, human resource management, and management information system etc belong to this spectrum.

Sometimes you can't just simply translate the name of a german major into English literally. You have to first of all learn about the focal points of this major and then decide which English counterpart it matches.

其实现在翻译多了，比如原汁原味的Business Administration或者International Management等等都是。。。。。。。现在德国教育也开始搞标题党了，换汤不换药~~~
