A touching story! U must read!!!

This is really a great story!!

, x. S8 Z  S8 ^# l* K3 mOne day, when I was a freshman in high school,
/ i! Y! c1 l7 a, Y" M7 R5 L9 \! p2 I6 s; {* s5 Z0 k
I saw a kid from my class was walking home from school.
) i- \" J, v1 H
4 }3 u" Y: M8 t, Z6 J: {0 \4 aHis name was Kyle. 5 C5 A7 X0 r3 d( S8 |

% q) T/ ^% e/ @8 c7 @- Z4 v0 n# c& O9 ?1 \$ L
It looked like he was carrying all of his books. ; M* n, ^/ Q# S/ K
9 N) z/ W% S. k
7 U3 C& w9 M7 j7 x: L
I thought to myself, "Why would anyone bring home all his books on a Friday? % |& J' r0 g, e2 N; C6 j3 b+ n1 W

  Z) n+ K) C3 aHe must really be a nerd." 1 K' }3 ]) N% _/ D/ `$ ?

) I/ M0 m  I% S! e, m
1 `: W- A+ ]9 m" ~I had quite a weekend planned (parties and a football game with my friends tomorrow afternoon), so I shrugged my shoulders and went on.
8 O3 K. E! X" y1 S! x$ S4 r. ?- @8 x  u" e; y
! u. L! A; B# {' p9 I' r/ @
As I was walking, I saw a bunch of kids running toward him. , c. V- y- P& N8 l; E5 l

( c, `8 q1 s+ P! V* c" M  r2 u: _) c# }! i
They ran at him, knocking all his books out of his arms and tripping him so he landed in the dirt. ( J( t8 H* U- k3 ~9 O% j

* @' E% ]4 r" O- P: Z! Q. \- A6 Q' I' u2 v
His glasses went flying, and I saw them land in the grass about ten feet from him.
, Y9 D" D' l6 v( L3 T2 n0 k5 Y+ ~/ x0 n7 u
$ x9 k! s  B# ]
He looked up and I saw this terrible sadness in his eyes
8 x5 g) Y/ N$ D" G
7 e3 s  W9 `: c2 y9 H& `
* p2 i  _* c' J% x4 P# d8 yMy heart went out to him. So, I jogged over to him and as he crawled around looking for his glasses, and I saw a tear in his eye.
8 c* ~* ~8 p! Q# b! _

' p. I0 Q4 B$ {7 i0 |% a5 @As I handed him his glasses, I said, "Those guys are jerks.
- E! f0 c$ J& n; Y
' j4 e$ a$ a2 a: G) n9 l- f4 e0 n2 F
They really should get lives ) O  e/ @* n1 H0 s3 ]3 ]5 c" v
+ S- a$ x' y: ]! `

" _% j' k9 D  a" He looked at me and said, "Hey thanks!"
  M( o' H) ]( A* ?
( m% G1 N. F( }; {
) b+ z, ^# W# G5 L, W5 Z1 i2 EThere was a big smile on his face. . A/ ?6 }$ ~  O/ a

) k) i7 H1 a* ~; M
( a6 |4 A* ~* E+ Z) ?) U; HIt was one of those smiles that showed real gratitude. ' I8 A0 c% H' T( ~! a

0 B! l* i3 Z7 j8 P( Z: R
& o+ w8 S% I* t' iI helped him pick up his books, and asked him where he lived
0 T+ c1 |  `* q5 n: t
0 v6 @3 ^8 ^* @8 ~1 K- [; C' l7 h; I
As it turned out, he lived near me, so I asked him why I had never seen him before. # N: v' f7 U, i1 s) g
0 E' i" E) o' M8 I- k0 h
He said he had gone to private school before now. 8 O% X7 Y  b' X0 F

3 m5 R/ N, R6 E3 p. f- kI would have never hung out with a private school kid before.
5 r/ a. F/ }& U+ y( B
8 ?& n& A! y! {) o8 _- n6 ^3 [We talked all the way home, and I carried some of his books.
5 C' q3 l6 y/ {8 q7 g4 S/ P$ H$ H  ^: N4 @5 D$ w; U

+ a! l& _- H, k; }# q6 g7 XHe turned out to be a pretty cool kid.
; P4 x, _7 r8 B
9 |# w# {; _2 t$ _* q& W6 S( ]& Z# w" k
I asked him if he wanted to play a little football with my friends
& R9 D  l/ n3 ^6 r" F# Q# G2 ^  B' p' y2 r8 I  \- k- `7 J( J
He said yes.
% Z9 G) U+ q& K* _6 V% o9 h5 `$ w1 K. U1 _* Y8 l% G5 c0 h1 u

3 l8 h5 o6 o' xWe hung out all weekend and the more I got to know Kyle, the more I liked him, and my friends thought the same of him. ) L7 f5 u/ l& U5 }% H2 a4 w

2 e2 b9 j/ i2 B# [/ M$ N) r8 vMonday morning came, and there was Kyle with the huge stack of books again. / H; O1 w. g4 ~+ n& W; r  o: f& L

: H' h  Y7 j2 X; P8 G" O- ]- }" [I stopped him and said, "Boy, you are gonna really build some serious muscles with this pile of books everyday!
  C+ @* A4 [+ O) p+ Y8 P/ w( J) N
6 P, M# Q; ^( y$ a" D2 @" y, U
"He just laughed and handed me half the books.
1 X8 U6 o6 n4 ~0 P; \
5 Y! U- \$ t- e( _+ i& g4 A9 \
) W2 b! E7 I5 F' V! e) b' oOver the next four years, Kyle and I became best friends. " N9 h3 u& I, M7 b+ ?2 U. T2 y

, {( k& u0 A- G5 D5 R! Y* i$ }& Q8 z) x
When we were seniors, we began to think about college.
/ R, G5 T# A7 g  j/ V& n/ ~/ u( i' c- C: \; }
% b* o( V* J" `; e4 W
Kyle decided on Georgetown, and I 6 {: V, Q8 V" {# {9 R1 _/ H* L8 m3 ]
was going to Duke.
8 M8 |2 r# H& ?* H" v' M3 E, T0 B; }4 Y8 q3 M4 |

) e1 w. z. [; l5 s5 EI knew that we would always be friends, that the miles would never be a problem.
) x4 ?$ l0 |0 \3 d5 i8 Z% y+ m1 U7 ^2 Q1 w
: `+ l) O8 t" E6 f% j
He was going to be a doctor, and I was going for business on a football scholarship.
& o+ y0 H7 S- I: U0 P! C) f$ e2 q7 {4 c( R& v: h

+ V% d/ w$ a- K9 `0 Z) ^! \& R: x0 e$ F4 Q  [
Kyle was valedictorian of our class.
; ~0 [% \4 m2 |4 x$ s3 D# j% F2 s! g
I teased him all the time about being a nerd.
5 C! ?* E( @6 M" m. \1 N2 j; W/ q( q, @! k. O1 I0 `

7 x) r0 z0 k8 ]& [He had to prepare a speech for graduation.

. l( P& e% u! C  zI was so glad it wasn't me having to get up there and speak ( v- ^0 q7 X* V2 g/ }

Graduation day, I saw Kyle.

He looked great. , b+ J( U! F, {- i

He was one of those guys that really found himself during high school. # r. \( l+ F8 m+ k

2 c+ z% P' b" vHe filled out and actually looked good in glasses. - ~) e8 Q8 D9 a  n9 l# P7 c

He had more dates than I had and all the girls loved him.

Boy, sometimes I was jealous.
/ C8 R4 j' d9 [  I( X0 O( V5 o6 o$ m* h+ C

) Y7 m3 F5 E, D' }Today was one of those days.
& o! z! k$ y0 T) R# S+ R, O! V
& o, ^( b6 T9 P4 t* [2 J2 N0 h& c2 Z% [. d  W7 Z0 s5 H6 W

: {: d/ n! p; [I could see that he was nervous about his speech.

% G6 `7 }1 J% d3 C- A
6 i: z; c, Q; HSo, I smacked him on the back and said, "Hey, big guy, you'll be great!"
# {0 Z6 \2 X, e9 _, i7 v( r* d, c1 v- k, E7 ~7 |

+ f* t( V# f( e, ]6 J; XHe looked at me with one of those looks (the really grateful one) and smiled. - C" J: F4 h  e

"Thanks," he said. + |) G2 t) K5 B9 M0 i& Q

As he started his speech, he cleared his throat, and began
* i" M4 z5 ^3 n, ]5 o9 `! h5 l3 p3 [# h- |4 x7 ~$ ~% F- j
) O: `1 F0 V2 l  l7 }

0 r1 j' y8 L9 y1 y
1 O7 C+ i$ M3 `& L1 s"Graduation is a time to thank those who helped you make it through those tough years.
# H- v$ S8 ^: K7 R
. i- J) Q& z6 C4 m$ d8 RYour parents, your teachers, your siblings, maybe a coach...but mostly your friends...

& K% X& O0 {0 C7 c; V$ }4 q* B: r! J; j
I am here to tell all of you that being a friend to someone is the best gift you can give them. * u- A/ z8 b2 A% \0 y6 l

9 t% E$ M7 _& @6 k$ @3 L6 u
I am going to tell you a story."

I just looked at my friend with disbelief as he told the story of the first day we met.
( [  Z4 I2 \8 O4 w5 Z4 ~; L. ~. r2 d0 M
He had planned to kill himself over the weekend.
5 r. T5 O4 W2 u* [$ `+ b* c; i/ n( V2 }* z% r; e
+ s$ g% W- U- T% n$ ^
He talked of how he had cleaned out his locker so his Mom wouldn't have to do it later and was carrying his stuff home.
/ L  \+ h% D* K: U; u6 t5 O
& B) F3 L: M4 s/ {. F8 a) V
1 d6 @" I9 {5 K3 r6 `He looked hard at me and gave me a little smile.
( [: ]! A3 Y( a8 a: X+ g! ~( \" _& y6 V0 p$ c
"Thankfully, I was saved.
& b8 ]  }4 g% ~* h5 W) t+ [) L7 l0 a; y

0 j: J: r; x- g% b& h% ?7 j. m( ?- B( B# c- S) t
My friend saved me from doing the unspeakable." " J( [& T6 }5 I$ L& M
+ s5 Q' L5 _4 o' H2 \
I heard the gasp go through the crowd as this handsome, popular boy told us all about his weakest moment.
. x) v/ _/ `* f" E) _4 \. j) X) ?8 y; J% H9 w
I saw his Mom and dad looking at me and smiling that same grateful smile.
( m; _4 T- B( D! }4 _. d; {* S) b7 J4 T( G
Not until that moment did I realize its depth.
7 V8 E# u) C2 Q9 X" D
) e  s0 ]* B2 q* j* g9 o4 XNever underestimate the power of your actions.
+ \( W6 ?5 Z& V
" F8 W& i* y! U" N/ i: _, {With one small gesture you can change a person's life.
6 m1 L5 K# u# z3 W* M# c/ i
; @( F* k" N2 M0 m* D+ ~For better or for worse. ! v# h, s1 t) i) |& _$ o0 P

God puts us all in each other's lives to impact one another in some way. % ]( I. b6 r# L2 H' J( N4 f
8 U8 K& [) y2 ]5 ], Y1 Z
Look for God in others.

A nice guy...but the story it's not so touching...at least for me..., k8 ~! a% k; }6 d9 o
