A touching story! U must read!!!

This is really a great story!! 6 f% f* R5 T9 F8 K* Y2 H& i

One day, when I was a freshman in high school,
4 Q4 F8 [8 f8 N. q% R: P' j$ M
1 S- w' g3 y0 l* PI saw a kid from my class was walking home from school. ) l  |9 F8 D: G. V- l6 |

: O4 [: p5 r7 F: SHis name was Kyle. 1 I% Z# f" q8 c  E" e7 I4 q4 ]0 t
  H% H8 Z' T6 a$ c! Y" z
1 ], m% Z  z) Q/ \5 R
It looked like he was carrying all of his books.
9 A: ^+ K; h. Y  v
9 }3 B. J7 q& d1 E4 k  \3 z& N+ M
8 |( ]5 w$ Z6 |7 f* dI thought to myself, "Why would anyone bring home all his books on a Friday? ' `3 N: L( R* O/ H
8 e" _. J0 ~2 K3 ?5 s! j
He must really be a nerd." - @6 p" S1 t# r

3 I8 [7 Y8 w. h! i1 e; p
+ F# h& l) _8 d3 c9 d8 QI had quite a weekend planned (parties and a football game with my friends tomorrow afternoon), so I shrugged my shoulders and went on. 0 n( ?9 z  L3 s

( K: d4 G0 c' q9 v1 m
% _6 a/ D" u! w0 w, g, p5 uAs I was walking, I saw a bunch of kids running toward him.
3 [; Y9 |! U) r! S' |8 h8 E3 s6 W; `) p! @* X) y

9 f  s  H+ Y* wThey ran at him, knocking all his books out of his arms and tripping him so he landed in the dirt.
% }; S" H) w2 F$ }8 N+ v
6 P* Z6 ^, O: ^4 O* g9 I4 v
* |. q  G# B$ Q$ T' GHis glasses went flying, and I saw them land in the grass about ten feet from him.
! W* E- q6 \2 F& l2 B! k7 _7 z9 B9 v, {8 N6 ]

& o4 A0 j  e# X. VHe looked up and I saw this terrible sadness in his eyes - i2 G: {0 D) P( x3 }& V, r

- h( e0 W, `8 H* m9 Q5 L- Z. q4 q0 [+ b
My heart went out to him. So, I jogged over to him and as he crawled around looking for his glasses, and I saw a tear in his eye. 1 C8 l7 f  i& d- R0 C6 p

! q1 T4 e9 z5 r6 A; E  o
" O0 R1 }* ^# L! c7 ?7 oAs I handed him his glasses, I said, "Those guys are jerks.
4 [- Y+ n9 Z4 r) m& O' N" F  N: F* u/ w; w/ V, m9 ~) \
; S4 \) Y& n  F: Z9 S7 \
They really should get lives
0 i* w/ W  N( e; j3 Z# `0 q. x1 P+ F0 L2 r

+ d' b; J! R. \' o8 z" He looked at me and said, "Hey thanks!"
4 n5 g) `4 l+ a. T  {$ k1 f8 P5 _, U, A* B2 v

* E: U9 b) {  w$ Z3 i& n; ?2 L  iThere was a big smile on his face.
7 h2 R5 L) P, z8 v. b0 ?* R. q6 F0 H0 U7 E7 ]9 G

' m# k8 A8 e7 e) RIt was one of those smiles that showed real gratitude. 2 X0 ]) E' Y2 n+ m3 `" g

" G; o1 O$ n5 a# t: j- m& |% C6 u) ~0 a, ?3 u
I helped him pick up his books, and asked him where he lived
! \  [$ s) I, f$ M' X# z9 v( @0 Y% M, L
- B6 ~, U# I- f8 D) }
As it turned out, he lived near me, so I asked him why I had never seen him before.
; W9 v5 F# d$ q8 N' R2 j
/ _/ T4 p' Y( `He said he had gone to private school before now.
; Q& V5 N+ X9 j, S  e, v5 n& v! e9 ]# J2 d2 A; b
I would have never hung out with a private school kid before. " {* ?+ y7 q& M0 m+ B7 H

: Z- M& L$ z) x8 P2 e# iWe talked all the way home, and I carried some of his books. # l; C5 {. l. E: X/ ~2 [

  d$ A. W8 Z5 @2 {1 A, K; y; z! t- S' G, d
He turned out to be a pretty cool kid. + {6 P& i$ y1 m7 V' j

5 t8 a  D2 B" n3 U' fI asked him if he wanted to play a little football with my friends
) |# h* A( v: Y& M3 Q; A0 [! s8 j6 q1 q
He said yes.
; [2 W  a7 n, j6 e" H' ~1 b$ m+ e7 ~8 a* O) D: y8 x6 f- }
) ?$ L) \: P' W- D
We hung out all weekend and the more I got to know Kyle, the more I liked him, and my friends thought the same of him.
* z+ A- B. R5 x( H; a" i5 L; L6 f- i5 h& i. _

. i# [4 T5 O/ h/ z9 A# {, uMonday morning came, and there was Kyle with the huge stack of books again. , {: R# c* f# O& _
  I; P- Y' r: q1 y" ^# X& n
I stopped him and said, "Boy, you are gonna really build some serious muscles with this pile of books everyday! 0 s$ N- Q: V" _4 p
( U) U! E( d* T$ g- F/ ?) @" c7 U

4 I7 `- J; I9 r"He just laughed and handed me half the books.
8 F  `9 C7 m" e1 `
3 S# O# A2 {# J" r/ {5 |) S
4 h/ R* S0 B/ _3 LOver the next four years, Kyle and I became best friends.
# l! Y  G; W- f9 w& N$ j+ Z. w; F) K5 E9 B: N- ^4 N
' F- M! L2 X. ~# o" X$ v1 g
When we were seniors, we began to think about college.
* N9 h3 R, p8 a( Z
, \3 Y5 {# {2 E+ G* m6 v; |: j7 i4 I
, H% e2 d- h( c8 z8 mKyle decided on Georgetown, and I
8 m1 [! `9 o( K& o4 Mwas going to Duke.
8 g. u+ p2 w! ^: ~# k" {
1 z- U% F. C& \3 Z, u' d) f  J! c6 Y( w/ h# L$ @8 u2 o
I knew that we would always be friends, that the miles would never be a problem.
7 N; ]" d  ~$ e4 K  C( ~
' i% ~7 `+ g! @: s/ M. [
4 i: T- A/ x" J6 m5 I4 MHe was going to be a doctor, and I was going for business on a football scholarship. * g5 f/ D9 w0 a3 @$ O

( m) E. v0 p; U; m- U. O  X) R5 H! Y
$ s) Z5 p! A" S) B1 j$ q6 r
$ k! p4 ?; T: L
Kyle was valedictorian of our class. 4 A* h& c! U1 j4 }
" U+ ]: a0 v9 ?7 }: T# c% E
I teased him all the time about being a nerd.

0 L5 @+ b( a4 g, j  ]: \2 o  b* P" N$ }7 u+ g) ]
He had to prepare a speech for graduation. 8 i6 Y3 J( u0 {) O8 Y
2 v4 W: V" x6 E) j) r7 V8 Z

1 x- H' w: B8 H/ o& @# }I was so glad it wasn't me having to get up there and speak - U4 H" l* p6 v# ]3 q4 s  L: u
5 g- R- ]' X9 X

: W" R- U2 E; H! C8 z* y. a: fGraduation day, I saw Kyle.
! x2 R2 U$ ], i/ z2 E0 `% Q" e! `. f1 b3 c
# s! Y  s8 ]! ^* W# r+ }
He looked great.
8 r5 |. H3 D( K8 f/ W% d! S( h& G: i

/ Y9 L: M/ S1 b$ }He was one of those guys that really found himself during high school.
- n- d. v0 n* ^+ J" j0 G. j- m. @5 k$ z

0 H& I$ D1 Z# Z3 IHe filled out and actually looked good in glasses. ) Q* A1 Y9 B- e! r
8 x! l5 L8 M1 _: r0 b0 M2 E

. h6 U4 U7 p# S( w3 O' w- E9 ZHe had more dates than I had and all the girls loved him.

& A/ g" ?% a' LBoy, sometimes I was jealous. % E" n  Z6 m1 ]1 s6 @7 f  ^( S

* G+ q; t4 S2 Q& M* sToday was one of those days. ! y+ V4 H7 R+ v" ^6 X- W

  @, {5 w6 D2 P7 F- ^+ j0 w) a: Y! d& E: p

I could see that he was nervous about his speech.
) Z0 J& U0 W) k$ n, G) _: m7 M* U& h& L0 T2 y2 A! M, |1 {4 G
" s" Z+ ?' D9 B
So, I smacked him on the back and said, "Hey, big guy, you'll be great!" " ^" I2 P, `) \0 F! U

8 D1 C/ g( \! Q- q, Z8 y* z; h% w; m* }( U: L% }' k1 X
He looked at me with one of those looks (the really grateful one) and smiled.

"Thanks," he said.
  Z, ?: G% Y7 L% c/ n

3 X2 w; E  j! h5 i" CAs he started his speech, he cleared his throat, and began 0 n! l5 d( ]6 d/ g5 I
, o6 F# X% b! S5 [8 c
* }! m; H9 @- n# |

, o2 r& C2 S3 Q1 z8 `5 O
6 {( Z+ |+ J/ V/ n! p2 J"Graduation is a time to thank those who helped you make it through those tough years.
: c5 c% b# @+ e' W" D0 H0 y: G" w5 o; o# {2 n
Your parents, your teachers, your siblings, maybe a coach...but mostly your friends... 7 m" T' g) q: W+ ]" `  A  l' w3 a

2 J- w1 n" Q  {- M$ m
/ m7 p/ f0 `% i: z4 T  jI am here to tell all of you that being a friend to someone is the best gift you can give them.
+ Z: e4 F  l5 E( ^- z
# R( o+ h5 \( z( M/ _0 \* Y5 e
6 u3 T2 ~! }5 n& OI am going to tell you a story." 8 T# x: h% P! n9 T) V
& |0 C) D$ A6 T6 ?

+ d: a' `$ p: h- o* k. C& EI just looked at my friend with disbelief as he told the story of the first day we met.
6 R1 S# u; q. \) |- P+ ~* K+ h
% e% D5 O# Q3 n- HHe had planned to kill himself over the weekend.
( ~' c. u, s2 r" q+ v/ o
" C- k# e4 s. m2 \6 I& r! k
, p% R; z# B7 B3 h9 VHe talked of how he had cleaned out his locker so his Mom wouldn't have to do it later and was carrying his stuff home. 7 J( k  y& k# Q* N8 z) j
) J  K2 C* a0 Z2 b. c5 P

5 f. C  c6 i, ~) {: MHe looked hard at me and gave me a little smile.
5 U% l: E4 u$ V  m& f
# y  d/ U! T! @, q/ i/ m+ B"Thankfully, I was saved.
& Y) q9 z+ u1 v6 Q1 h) @
! c( a9 ]/ }( ?! [! J6 L& y
# P, y4 w$ N0 n3 E6 v6 T+ W
2 H: K3 s# B4 {My friend saved me from doing the unspeakable."
+ W. q8 L: \3 B$ s+ m0 J( H8 e# t9 E5 `3 m; l$ B9 J
I heard the gasp go through the crowd as this handsome, popular boy told us all about his weakest moment.
8 }2 A5 a& M+ _) w$ l& N: P9 G" l* v5 \4 S
I saw his Mom and dad looking at me and smiling that same grateful smile. * T2 |, _0 M/ r$ u+ c1 j
; c6 {" Y' N3 s$ e1 `8 C
Not until that moment did I realize its depth. 3 T  ?6 l+ P) ?. y1 c
8 `+ E7 k2 r# @, f6 @
Never underestimate the power of your actions.
* |7 z7 T5 @5 I" r6 ^* }, J# A/ z) K9 S" m
With one small gesture you can change a person's life. 0 U; Z' j& s# _, p4 [% z
7 F! ?1 p7 e3 `3 o  [6 d4 `
For better or for worse.
; |- j9 _; q9 e
& z$ }+ q9 _1 N/ ~; bGod puts us all in each other's lives to impact one another in some way.
% Y1 R) C; b% r2 X% m
/ |! D& C# s- aLook for God in others.

A nice guy...but the story it's not so touching...at least for me...  v3 X1 Y) k& P- i4 y
